This week we are going to face one of the more boring passages in Genesis. Genesis 36 is all about Esau and his descendents. Yes, it's another genealogy passage -- how exciting! However, this one's a little different because it's organized around future conflict. Moses is letting us know the who, what, and where of all the enemies Israel would have to face in their long struggle to follow God (i.e. - the rest of the Old Testament). And remember the original readers in the time of the Exodus were living in the middle of some of those specific conflicts. So, of course, there's more here than meets the eye. And, of course, you'll have to wait for the unique twist that comes at the end!
