The King Knows His Kingdom (Matthew 25:31-46)

July 27, 2014 Speaker: Rev. Dave Dorst Series: The King and His Kingdom! - A Series in the Book of Matthew

Topic: Sermons Passage: Matthew 25:31–25:46

"We were ruined in our sin / We were guilty and undone / When Your love reached down with sovereign hands /And beckoned us to come. And when Christ our King returns / We'll meet saints we've never known / And forever we will be amazed / That You made us Your own. You have loved us like You love Your Son / We are heirs with Christ, bought by His blood / Oh how great the love that we've been shown / We're Your children now, You've made us Your own." These are some of the lines from the latest worship song that we've learned in church ("You Made Us Your Own" by Steve & Vikki Cook and Bob Kauflin). They remind us of God's great love that broke through our natural rebellion and unrighteousness to save us, adopt us, and one day bring us into His glorious kingdom. I hope you reflect and meditate on the words to the songs we sing week in and week out, they teach marvelous theology!

There are a lot of ways to separate people in this world: the haves vs. the have-nots, country fans vs. rock 'n roll fans, the educated vs. the working class, the 1% vs. the 99%, those who have read Tolkien vs. those who haven't... In this Sunday's sermon passage, Jesus will teach that there is one separation of people that really matters. And it will not happen until that great day of judgment when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne and brings the nations before Him in judgment. There are pretty straightforward consequences for the two groups of people, and this is one of the most sobering passages in all of Scripture. Come find out what the two groups of people will be, what the evidence will be that Jesus will judge them on, and evaluate your life in light of this teaching. See you then, -Dave
