Surprise! (Proverbs 16:1-9)

January 31, 2016 Speaker: Chaplain Douglas Lee Series: Guest Speakers

Topic: Sermons Passage: Proverbs 16:1–9

Glad everyone survived Winter Storm Jonas. I’m sure your kids are just as upset about missing school as mine are! Hope you got caught up on family time, reading, house projects, etc. As we look to reschedule several things from last weekend, the main one that happens this Sunday is the Fellowship Lunch. I always look forward to those lunches and hope you can make that a priority (and RSVP to Katherine Culver; make it easy on her since she’s heading it up for the first time). Also, we’ll begin promoting the summer mission trip, a return to the Nassau, Bahamas to help St. Andrews Kirk. Gail Spence, the team leader, will tell you all about it Sunday.

Speaking of events I always look forward to, the Men’s Retreat is Friday and Saturday, and we’ve got over 35 guys going to hang out, play games, get to know each other better, and be spiritually nourished and challenged by our speaker, Doug Lee. Doug has been a pastor at 3 different churches and also served as an Army chaplain (Brigadier General) for over 30 years. He is currently the Executive Director of the Presbyterian and Reformed Commission on Chaplains and Military Personnel. In other words, if you want to be a chaplain for the Army and you’re coming from a Reformed denomination, you have to get Doug to endorse you. Doug will also be leading Sunday School (Adults and High School in the auditorium) and preaching from Proverbs Sunday morning.

Gonna be a great weekend, see you then! - Dave Dorst
