It's the Third Sunday in Advent this week and we'll be starting Matthew 2 and we're going to look at some of the main characters of the Christmas story: The Wise Men, Herod the Great, and Christ as a little baby. And, as we'll discover is pretty typical of Matthew, the stories come with a twist. The Wise Men are the hated pagans from the East, but they're the good guys in this story. Herod (along with the chief priests) are the rulers of the Jews and are supposed to be the good guys, but they're not. And finally we learn that Christ, even though He hasn't done anything yet, is worthy of worship simply because of who He is.
The Christmas story really begins the adventure tale that is Matthew's Gospel. Nothing is going according to plan ... unless it's God's plan. And we'll see that it's another great story with more great lessons for us ... come Sunday to hear more. See you then, Dr. Dave
