It's the Fourth Sunday in Advent this week and we'll be finishing Matthew 2. This section is all about Christ fulfilling the prophecies of the Old Testament. However, it also contains the short, but horrific, passage about Herod the Great killing the young children of Bethlehem.
In light of recent events in Newtown, Connecticut we have to consider how the Gospel speaks into our hardest moments and what kind of response is expected from each one of us. And yet, this passage should fill us with hope as we're emphatically reminded that Jesus is the One who is coming to set all things right. And so we will see that God's plan is not always easy to discern, but always accomplishes His purposes.
The adventure that is Matthew's Gospel continues. Come Sunday to hear more.
See you then, Dr. Dave
P.S. - Hope you were able to enjoy one of the Christmas Parties last Sunday, we had a good time at ours. However, we know that some people didn't get to see the annual slide show, so this Sunday after church, we are going to show it again for the whole church. And You're Invited!
