The Construction for the Lord (Exodus 35:1-38:31)

August 14, 2016 Speaker: Dr. David Silvernail Series: Exodus - The Glory of the Lord

Topic: Sermons Passage: Exodus .35:1– 38:31

Have you ever wondered what God wants you to do? With your life, school, career, family, at church? At one time or another, most of us have wondered about that. And often we figure it out as we go … and some of us are still working on it! Of course, once you figure out what God wants you to do, you have to figure out how you’re going to get there? How are you going to get equipped and trained to do that? And once you get equipped and trained, who’s going to hire you? Where will you go to work and live? Wow, that’s a lot of questions that have to be answered.

Well, here’s one of the few places in the Bible where it was probably easier for the Israelites than for us (except for that whole golden calf incident, but we’re not talking about that). We’re in Exodus 35-38 this week (yes, four full, long chapters – what fool planned that?) and we’re going to be looking at a group of people who had no doubts about what God wanted them to do. And that’s because God personally called them, God personally equipped them, and God personally directed their work. Wouldn’t that be easier? Yeah, probably.

So, what does that look like in our lives? God hasn’t specifically told most of us to build a tabernacle, along with all its furnishings and accessories. Tanned any ram’s skins lately? And how are those goat skin curtains coming? Make sure they have loops of blue on the edge! I haven’t done any of that stuff either. So what has God told you to do? How has God equipped you to do it? And, here’s the big question – are you actually doing it? Those are some of the questions we’ll be looking at this week. And if you can’t answer them, then you’ve got a dilemma on your hands. So we’re going to look at God’s calling, equipping, and direction this Sunday and how should we respond to what He says. Should be interesting! Hopefully, I’ll see you there! Dr. Dave
